Removing Paint From Carpet

When you are painting your house it never fails. You will undoubtedly get paint on your carpet some place. If this has happened to you then you should read this short article which will give you some tips on getting paint off of a carpet.

Of course the best thing to do is prevent the problem in the first place by using drop clothes to cover all of your floors but if you have already spilled the paint it is too late for that. To clean up dried paint you will want to go to your favorite home improvement store and but a bottle of paint remover that is safe for carpet. Not all paint removers are so be careful and find one that specifically says that it can be used for carpet. If you use one that is not designed for this purpose it could be too strong and it could loosen the carpets backing, ruining it. Also pick up a bottle of a general spotter and some cotton terry cloth spotting towels. Take everything home and apply some of the paint remover to a rag. Lightly dab the paint being careful not to over wet the area. Be patient and do not scrub the carpet. Just keep dabbing at it until it comes out. When it is all removed or it stops transferring to the towel you should follow up with your general spotter to remove any traces of the solvent. That is it, you are done. hopefully the spot is out but paint does not always come out.

If you think that some more of the paint should be able to be removed or if you do not want to mess with this yourself you should call a local carpet cleaner. They will have more experience with dealing with these things. Good luck to you.
